What should a man do who, after eight years, has become certain of his wife’s adultery and her having borne children not fathered by him, and he knows the adulterer? Should he kill her, her children, and the adulterer? Or should he perform li’an? Or should he divorce her and conceal her and the children? And what should he say to his family and to society, especially since what happened was due to sorcery and revenge?

The children are the husband's children, and the husband cannot deny their lineage through li'an (oath of condemnation) due to his delay. He is not permitted to kill his wife or the fornicator; otherwise, retribution (qisas) would be due upon him unless he produces four witnesses. Killing the children is a grave sin. The optimal solution is for the husband to divorce his wife if she does not repent from fornication, while maintaining secrecy about their affair, because disclosing their fornication without evidence is considered slander (qadhf) that necessitates flogging. Magic can be resolved through lawful means.
