How can one change his view of faith from fearing worldly punishment to fearing the torment of the Hereafter?

Disobedience has a negative impact and a serious, ominous effect on a servant's life in this world and the Hereafter. The disobedient are afflicted in this world with a difficult life and deprivation, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a difficult life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind."﴾ [Taha: 124], and ﴿Corruption has appeared on land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so that Allah may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].﴾ [Ar-Rum: 41].

As for the danger in the Hereafter, it is more dreadful, greater, longer, larger, more enduring, and more severe, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring.﴾ [Taha: 127], and ﴿Such is the punishment; but the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.﴾ [Al-Qalam: 33], and ﴿So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.﴾ [Az-Zumar: 26].

Therefore, one must be mindful of the dangers of both abodes and remember the state of those tormented in Hellfire. Among the things that help with this is frequently reading books of spiritual refinement, texts of encouragement and deterrence, and contemplating the horrors of the Day of Resurrection.
