A husband's statement to his wife, "If you call anyone, this will be your last day in the house," is considered a metaphorical expression of divorce (kinayat al-talaq). If the husband intended it as a conditional divorce, then as soon as she makes a call, the divorce takes effect according to the majority of scholars. Some scholars hold that if a conditional divorce is intended for threat or prevention, the divorce does not occur, but an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yamin) is required. However, if his intention was not divorce but rather to expel her from the house, then it is not considered a divorce.
