Is financial sponsorship of an orphan through charities, which does not include direct supervision of their affairs, considered part of the orphan sponsorship encouraged by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him? Is it a condition for receiving its reward that the sponsorship continues for life, or is sponsorship for one year sufficient? Does the reward differ based on the amount of financial sponsorship paid (1200 Riyals versus 2400 Riyals)?

If the amount paid by the benefactor achieves the orphan's sufficiency in maintenance and care, then the one who sponsors the orphan attains the reward mentioned in the Hadith and the high rank in Paradise, accompanying the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regardless of the amount paid. The crucial factor is achieving the orphan's sufficiency. As long as the sponsorship covers the orphan's needs through reliable organizations, it is considered orphan sponsorship. It appears that the mentioned reward is specific to those whose sponsorship of the orphan continues until the orphan no longer meets the definition of an orphan. One who pays money that is insufficient to sponsor an orphan is not considered an orphan's sponsor but rather a giver of charity, unless they participate with others in the sponsorship and they collectively provide for all the orphan's needs.
