Does paying a monthly sum to some orphaned children fall under the category of sponsorship (kafala)?

Sponsoring an orphan holds a great status in Islam, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I and the sponsor of an orphan will be in Paradise like this," pointing with his index and middle fingers.

Issuing a monthly sum that covers the basic needs of an orphan is considered a complete sponsorship, and its doer receives the reward of sponsoring an orphan.

And if the amount is not sufficient, it is still a great charity and a significant act of kindness, and Islam has encouraged kindness towards orphans and the needy in many verses, among them the Almighty's saying: "And worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, and be kind to parents and to relatives, orphans, and the needy."
