Does the detestation of selling permissible items that disbelievers use in their festivals, while it is permissible to do what is detestable, though it is better to avoid it, contradict Allah's saying, "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression"?

The preponderant opinion is that it is disliked to sell permissible items that are used in the festivals of disbelievers. Some scholars have deemed it forbidden. Abstaining from selling them is more cautious and preferable. However, dealing with disbelievers in permissible matters does not contradict the noble verse: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression," which prohibits aiding in the abandonment of what Allah has commanded or transgressing His limits. It is better for a Muslim to avoid selling anything that disbelievers may use to assist them in their sins.
