Ibn al-Qayyim said in "Bada'i' al-Fawa'id" that the Sirat (path) combines five characteristics: that it is a straight path, easy and trodden, wide, and leads to the desired destination. In "Madarij al-Salikin," he mentioned that a path does not become a Sirat unless it encompasses five matters: straightness, leading to the desired destination, proximity, its spaciousness for those who traverse it, and its being designated as the path to the desired destination. Describing it as straight implies its proximity and its leading to the desired destination, and its being laid out for all who pass over it necessitates its spaciousness.
