The son must obey his father in dissolving the engagement of a woman whom the father does not desire for his son, because obedience to the father is obligatory. The sin of disobedience is removed from the son if he honors his father. The father may discuss with him to ascertain the true nature of the woman he wishes to marry. If she is religious and of good character, it is preferable to agree to his marriage to her. If the father insists on refusing and the son insists on marrying her, the father may reclaim everything he gave him, provided that the son has not yet proposed to her or set a wedding date. The father may deprive the son of his share from the pension fund as long as he is alive if the money belongs to the father. However, if the pension continues after the father's death, it becomes an inheritance, and the father does not have the right to deprive him of it.
