Is a young man sinful if he does not go to work to earn money for marriage, fearing the temptation of lusts and the whispers of idleness? And does the description "those who have wronged themselves" in the noble verse apply to him? And is he considered among the insincere due to his laziness in working? And is it permissible for him to stay at home seeking knowledge until he finds a suitable, non-strenuous job?

Marriage is desirable, and it becomes obligatory for whoever fears falling into sin. Earning a livelihood is an obligation for the needy who are able to do so, desirable for those who have sufficient means, permissible for increasing wealth, and obligatory for whoever has no sustenance or is in debt. Earning to secure the expenses of marriage is not obligatory for whoever fears falling into sin. The verse from Surat An-Nisa does not apply to leaving a job. One who leaves a specific means of livelihood is not considered insincere with God. It is advised not to dwell on obsessive thoughts and to focus on the great obligations.
