What is the ruling on a husband informing his wife that he does not want her and will delay their divorce to achieve personal interests related to the children and the home, in front of peacemakers from both sides?

A divorce does not take place by the husband's statement to his wife: "He does not want her" or "He will delay the divorce," unless he intended divorce by his statement "He does not want her," because it is one of the ambiguous expressions of divorce (Kinayat al-Talaq). As for his statement "He will delay the divorce," it is merely a promise of divorce. It is incumbent upon both spouses to strive to preserve the family and maintain a good relationship, and to resolve problems wisely without resorting to divorce except when other solutions are unattainable and cohabitation becomes impossible.
