How do we reconcile the affliction of the righteous in this world, and the increase of their trials in proportion to the strength of their faith, with Allah's saying: "We will surely cause him to live a good life"?

It must be known that the news from Allah Almighty does not contradict reality due to its absolute truthfulness, and that the greatness of the reward is linked to the greatness of the tribulation. The good life promised in His Almighty saying: (Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do) An-Nahl/ 97, means the happiness of the heart, its expansion, its contentment, and its satisfaction, and does not necessarily mean a life devoid of sorrow, poverty, or worldly afflictions, as reality bears witness to the trials of the righteous. The exegetes, such as At-Tabari and Ibn Al-Qayyim, agreed that the good life is spiritual, manifested in contentment and satisfaction with Allah, and not a luxurious material life, which is supported by the noble Sunnah of the Prophet. The believer's trial does not contradict the good life; rather, it is a path to raising ranks and expiating sins. The righteous predecessors rejoiced in tribulations for the reward they hoped for, for the believer's paradise is in his chest, and his happiness lies in the expansion of his chest, his tranquility, and his living between gratitude and patience.
