Should we abandon investing or any good deed we are doing, for fear of envy (Hasad) and the evil eye (Ayn), or should we seek Allah's guidance (Istikhara), put our trust in Him, and proceed with it?

Envy and the evil eye are real and true, but to halt beneficial deeds and cease striving for worldly interests out of fear of them is an exaggeration and not commendable.

Indeed, Jacob (peace be upon him) feared the evil eye for his sons, yet he allowed them to go to Egypt and instructed them to take precautions, such as entering separately, while relying on Allah. He said: "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allah at all. The [final] decision is only for Allah. Upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely." [Yusuf: 67].

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to be eager for what benefits us, saying: "Be keen on what benefits you, and seek help from Allah, and do not be helpless."

So, if a project is beneficial and contains no forbidden elements, do not abandon it out of fear of envy or the evil eye. The mother should emulate Jacob (peace be upon him) and allow her children to strive for their interests, and she should diligently pray for them, for a parent's supplication is answered.
