What is the ruling on insulting the sun or the moon?

It is not permissible to curse the sun or the moon, for they are subjugated by Allah's command for the benefit of creation, and they tirelessly orbit day and night for the well-being of souls and livelihoods, as stated in His Almighty قول: (And He has subjected for you the sun and the moon, both orbiting constantly). Cursing them is like cursing the commanded wind. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade cursing the wind because it is commanded. So, whoever curses something that is not deserving of a curse, the curse returns upon him.
