What is the meaning of the Almighty’s saying, "And He subjected for you the sun and the moon, both diligently pursuing their courses"?

This noble verse came in the context of God's blessings upon humanity. It is God who created the heavens and the earth, sent down rain, and brought forth fruits as sustenance. He subjected ships to sail through the sea and subjected rivers, the sun, and the moon, ceaselessly pursuing their courses, and subjected the night and the day.

Al-Qurtubi stated that the sun and the moon tirelessly work to bring about the growth of plants and other things, continuing their courses until the Day of Resurrection without ceasing. The author of "In the Shade of the Qur'an" (Sayyid Qutb) believes that the sun and the moon are subjected by the cosmic law to provide what humans use in their lives and livelihoods.

Therefore, the meaning of this noble verse is the subjection of the sun, the moon, and other elements to serve humanity in this life. This is an honor for humanity, as the entire universe is subjected to its service so that humanity may be a servant to God Almighty alone.
