When and how was the trust offered to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains? And who bore it? And why did only irrational beings refuse to bear it? And how does man bear a trust that he did not accept?

Allah Almighty did not inform us about how or when the trust was offered, and if there had been any benefit in that, He would have told us. The heavens and the earth comprehend, respond, and speak, and the earth will recount its news on the Day of Resurrection concerning what every human did upon it, and that it was endowed with the ability to perceive and speak. No one carried the trust on your behalf; rather, Allah took a covenant from every soul to worship Him and not associate anything with Him when they were in the loins of Adam, and they affirmed this, and the heavens, the earth, and Adam were made witnesses over them. This covenant applies to all humanity, and whoever comprehends the other covenant (i.e., the religious obligations) and fulfills it will benefit from the first covenant. However, if the trust refers to the religious obligations, then Adam (peace be upon him) bore them first, and Allah commanded his offspring with them, and He does what He wills, and He created jinn and mankind for worship.
