Is zakat due on gold used for jewelry if it reaches the nisab, or only on gold prepared for trade, even if it is also used for adornment, or on both if they reach the nisab?

Gold designated for trade is subject to Zakat by consensus. It is added to cash liquidity and other trade goods if the total reaches the Nisab, and Zakat is paid at a rate of 2.5%. As for gold designated for adornment, the fatwa states that Zakat is not obligatory on it, but it is preferable to pay it to avoid scholarly disagreement. If the jewelry is intended for trade and used occasionally, the original ruling is that Zakat is obligatory on it.
