What is the ruling on computer games for which money is paid for mere entertainment, and are they considered extravagance?

Islam permits recreation and leisure. There is no objection to spending money to rent equipment for such purposes, like a computer, as long as it is not for unlawful gambling. It is stipulated that it should not lead to conflict or fanaticism, and it should not be accompanied by music or other forbidden things. Recreation should also be something that provides a significant and Islamically permissible benefit. If these conditions are met in video games, then playing them is permissible.
