What is the ruling on playing video games, which a husband plays with his wife and her siblings for entertainment, knowing that they do not distract from prayer, do not provoke anger, and are played infrequently, not exceeding twice a week?

Islam has permitted recreation and leisure, with legitimate controls, including: that it does not distract from obligations, that it is not accompanied by gambling or chance, that it does not lead to conflict, that it is not accompanied by prohibited music, and that there is no extravagance in time. Therefore, video games are permissible if these controls are met; otherwise, they are not.
