What is the ruling on buying electronic video games, especially if they are war games and contain transient music that does not distract from prayer?

Games accompanied by music are not permissible, due to Islam's prohibition of music and musical instruments. In Sahih al-Bukhari, it is narrated from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There will be among my Ummah people who will consider unlawful sexual intercourse, silk, wine, and musical instruments as lawful."
