The answer

A Muslim must submit to God's divine decree and destiny, for all that God chooses is good, as stated in Sahih Muslim: "Wondrous is the affair of the believer, for there is good in every matter of his." Calamities are a test and trial from God, so entrust your affair and your daughter's affair to God. Beware of negligence in prayer, for it is a characteristic of hypocrites, and know that scholars have differed regarding the ruling on one who abandons prayer out of laziness. Hasten to repent and perform prayer on time before it is too late. What you feel of failure in prayer and recitation is a delusion from Satan, for "indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak." Do not despair of reforming yourself, for purifying the soul is the cause of success in this world and the Hereafter, and it requires struggle. Among the helpful measures for purifying the soul are: fervent supplication at times of answer, reflecting on the Qur'an as you read it, for it is a healing for hearts and bodies, maintaining remembrance of God, listening to Islamic tapes that soften hearts, and seeking righteous company from virtuous sisters.
