Is "Salat al-Ruqa" truly in existence, or is it an innovation?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

There is no prayer called "Salat al-Ruq'a" (the Patch Prayer). However, there is mention of "al-Salat al-Muraqqa'a" (the patched prayer), which refers to a prayer in which an error occurred due to forgetfulness, and this is remedied by the prostration of forgetfulness (sujood al-sahw). Scholars have stipulated that patching and correcting a prayer is better than interrupting it and repeating it, as this was the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the righteous predecessors.
