Ibn al-Qayyim described the Conquest of Mecca in "Zad al-Ma'ad" as the "Greatest Conquest" by which Allah honored His religion, His Messenger, and His Sacred Precinct, and by which He liberated His city and His House from the disbelievers. The inhabitants of the heavens rejoiced at it, and people entered the religion of Allah in droves because of it. This غزوة (military expedition/conquest) occurred in the eighth year of the Hijra, in the month of Ramadan.
