What is the ruling on selling grapes to Christian and Druze merchants if it is known that the grapes will be used in the production of alcoholic beverages, given that there are no other buyers, and that most people prefer to destroy the crop rather than sell it?

Scholars have differed on the ruling concerning the sale of grapes to someone who is feared to be making wine from them. The Maliki and Hanbali schools, and the more correct opinion among the Shafi'is, hold that it is forbidden to sell if the seller knows or suspects that the buyer will turn them into wine. They base their reasoning on the Almighty's saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression," and on the Hadith: "Wine has been cursed from ten angles..." and on the action of Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas. Abu Hanifa, on the other hand, held that the sale is permissible, citing the Almighty's saying: "And Allah has permitted trade." The preponderant opinion is that of the majority, which prohibits the sale and deems it invalid due to the strength and specificity of their evidence.
