Which is better in Ruqyah: much recitation with little reflection, or little recitation with striving to reflect?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Reciting for Ruqyah with contemplation is better than reciting frequently without contemplation, because it combines the strength of the reciter's soul and the acceptance of the treated person (the one upon whom Ruqyah is performed). Contemplation leads to the reciter's soul adapting to the truths and secrets of Al-Fatiha, and what it contains of monotheism and reliance on Allah, which repels the effect of evil satanic souls and brings about healing by Allah's permission. Ibn al-Qayyim explained that the reward for reciting with tartil (slow, melodious recitation) and contemplation is nobler and of higher esteem, while the reward for frequent recitation is greater in number.
