What is the response to one who finds problematic the verse: "and the God of your fathers, Abraham, Ishmael, and Isaac" (Al-Baqarah: 133), and claims there is an error in the Qur’an by placing Ishmael among Jacob's fathers, knowing that Ishmael is Jacob's uncle?

The Quran proves that Ishmael and Isaac are the sons of Abraham, and Isaac is the father of Jacob. Ishmael is Jacob's uncle, and an uncle is called a father in the Arabic language. As for the recitation "and the God of your father," it is not mutawatir, but its meaning is that only Abraham is intended, as Arabs refer to a grandfather as a father. Alternatively, "أبيك" (your father) could have originally been "أبين" (fathers), a sound masculine plural of "أب" (father), where the "ن" (noon) was dropped due to annexation. As for the recitation "and the God of Abraham," it is also a shadhdh (anomalous) recitation, and its meaning is clear, with the word "your fathers" having been omitted from it.
