What are the conditions for an animal slaughtered as an expression of gratitude to God, and is it permissible to combine it with the Udhiyah (sacrifice of Eid al-Adha)?

Praise be to Allah, thanksgiving is one of the greatest acts of worship. Among the ways to show gratitude when blessings occur is for a Muslim to slaughter an animal and distribute it or prepare a feast from it. This sacrifice falls under the category of performing good deeds, and no specific conditions are attached to it unless it is a vow. It is permissible to combine the intention of an 'Eid sacrifice (Uḍḥiya) and gratitude for a blessing with a single sheep, by the Muslim intending at the time of slaughter to offer it as an act of worship to Allah Almighty, and to feed its meat to his brethren and the poor as an act of thanksgiving to Allah Almighty. This is valid because each intention corresponds to an individual, separate act.
