The question

Is there such a thing as human perfection, and are there any believers nowadays who possess this attribute, and how did they achieve it, and is there a Hadith in Bukhari to the effect that many men have attained perfection, while only four women have?

The answer

It has been authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that perfection was achieved in many men and in two women: Maryam (Mary) and Asiyah. Perfection here means reaching the ultimate degree in virtues, righteousness, and piety. It is a relative perfection according to human standards, not reaching the perfection of Allah, who is free from all deficiencies. It does not imply infallibility except for the prophets. There may be some among the believers who have attained this perfection, as some scholars have stated.
