What should a girl do who committed fornication with a married man and wants to marry him despite her family's strong refusal? Is she wrong for agreeing to be a second wife? And how can she marry another when she cannot forget her fornication with this man?
One must repent to Allah Almighty for sins, and remorse is repentance. It has an effect on the past (remorse and regret), on the present (abandoning the sin), and on the future (a firm resolve not to return to it). It is obligatory to keep the matter secret and not inform anyone about it, because "whoever is afflicted with any of these impurities should conceal himself with Allah's concealment." Parents must fear Allah and not prevent marriage with trivial excuses, for marrying a married man is not a defect, and "there are three things that should not be delayed: prayer when its time comes, a funeral when it is present, and a single woman when a suitable match is found for her." The father must be informed of the desire to marry this man, and assistance should be sought from someone who can convince the father, and one should supplicate to Allah to open the father's heart. If another suitor of good character and religion proposes, do not hesitate to accept him, and do not let your sin prevent you from what is lawful. Marriage is not permissible without the guardian's permission, and he must be convinced through the mediation of someone whose word is acceptable.
