Is the prohibition of hand-drawn images in the prohibition of drawing itself, or in what it is used for?

The prohibition of drawing animate beings is inherent [in the act itself] due to the generality of the hadith (definition): "Every maker of images will be in the Fire." Cartoon works fall under the generality of drawing. However, the use of Islamic films for young children has been permitted, provided they are free of music and forbidden images. The evidence for their permissibility for children is the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she used to play with dolls. Dolls are an exception to the prohibition of image-making. As for adults looking at them, some verifiers have favored its permissibility if they are free of forbidden elements. Based on this, manual drawing of animate beings is forbidden. A consensus has been narrated if it has a shadow, and it is the view of the majority for that which has no shadow. As for cartoon films that call to good, they are permissible for children and adults, according to the more preponderant view. Whatever contains a breach of creed or promotes vice is forbidden.
