Does the maternal grandfather inherit, or the paternal grandfather?

The maternal grandmother is not among the heirs but rather among the relatives by blood (dhawi al-arham), whereas the paternal grandfather is among the heirs. If the deceased leaves no one but the two grandmothers and a full brother, then the two grandmothers receive one-sixth as a prescribed share, divided equally between them, and the remainder goes to the full brother by way of asabah (residuary heir), based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them, and whatever remains is for the closest male relative." The inheritance is divided into twelve shares; the two grandmothers receive two shares, one share for each of them, and the remaining ten shares go to the full brother.
