Is the husband obligated to repay the full amount he borrowed from his wife, knowing that she initially agreed to forgive half of it then recanted?

First Scenario: If the loan was from the wife to her husband (the debtor), and she absolved him of half the debt, then this absolution is valid and cannot be revoked.

Second Scenario: If the wife was an intermediary between her husband and her maternal uncle regarding the loan, then the debt is the husband's responsibility, and what the wife mentioned about paying half the amount is merely a promise.
