What is the ruling on television programs presented by unveiled women under the pretext of providing a benefit or religious information or fatwas?

It is not permissible for scholars to appear on television programs hosted by unveiled women. This is because it may lead to looking at the unveiled woman and being in seclusion with her during broadcast intervals, and because it leads to the general public becoming lenient in this type of interaction with unveiled women. An exception to this is compelling necessity, or the prevalence of averting a greater harm over averting a lesser one. For example, if a scholar is compelled to appear on a satellite channel to avert a great harm threatening Islam and Muslims, and finds no other way to clarify the truth. However, merely presenting fatwas and religious information does not permit this, as it can be presented through other means free from Sharia prohibitions. Scholars should be supported in good deeds, encouraged to do them, and advised when they err.
