The answer

We pray for the mentioned person's recovery. As long as he is unconscious, the religious obligations are lifted from him, and he is not required to make up the prayers he missed during his coma.

However, if he is conscious, prayer is not waived for him, and he must perform it according to his ability: standing, sitting, lying on his side, or by gesturing with his eyes.

Regarding purification, if he is able to perform a complete ablution (wudu'), it is obligatory for him. If washing some limbs is difficult, he should suffice by wiping directly over them, or wiping over a bandage. If wiping is not possible, he should wash the healthy parts and perform (dry ablution) for the rest. If he cannot use water due to fear of illness, he should suffice with tayammum.
