Is it permissible for a person to vow to pray ten rakahs every month, in addition to the obligatory prayers and supererogatory prayers, out of gratitude to Allah or due to distress?

Scholars have differed on the ruling of making a vow (nadhr) in the first place, whether it is permissible or disliked. However, they have agreed on the obligation to fulfill it once it has been made, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him; and whoever vows to disobey Him, let him not disobey Him."
