The question

What is the ruling on manufacturing and selling T-shirts that have Pharaonic images or other images on them, whether blurred or incomplete for the purpose of mockery, or printed in a cartoonish style? And what is the ruling if the face is effaced or blurred so that its features are not discernible?

The answer

The fundamental ruling concerning the depiction of living beings is prohibition. However, a picture is not prohibited if it is effaced, or headless, or if its parts are separated, or if a part essential for life has been removed. The same applies to an unclear picture whose features cannot be distinguished. As for pictures of imaginary things that have no counterpart in reality, they remain subject to the original prohibition.
