Is it permissible for a Christian to gift two copies of the Qur’an to two boys whose mother is Christian and whose father is Muslim, knowing that he will take the two copies of the Qur’an with him to Sri Lanka?

The basic rule is not to give a kafir (disbeliever) a Mushaf (copy of the Qur’an) for fear of it being dishonored, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not travel with the Qur’an, for I do not feel safe that the enemy may lay hands on it." A kafir may be taught and have the Qur’an recited to him, and if he embraces Islam, he may then be given a Mushaf. There is no objection to giving him translations of the Qur’an, provided they are not accompanied by an independent Arabic text. A kafir is not permitted to touch the Mushaf. Therefore, this Christian cannot be given a Mushaf to send to his Muslim nieces and nephews. Their children can obtain Mushafs from Islamic societies and centers, or they can be sent to them through a Muslim person.
