The answer

Plucking armpit hair and shaving pubic hair are among the practices of the fitra (primordial nature). Whoever leaves them for more than forty days has committed a reprehensible act () and has contravened the . However, prayer is not invalidated by leaving them, unless leaving them leads to the accumulation of impurities that compromise ritual purity (tahara). In that case, what prevents the validity of tahara must be removed, otherwise the prayer will not be valid.

This is based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "The fitra is five, or five things are of the fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, plucking the armpit hair, trimming the nails, and trimming the mustache." And the saying of Anas: "A time limit was set for us concerning trimming the mustache, trimming the nails, plucking the armpit hair, and shaving the pubic hair, that we should not leave them for more than forty nights."
