Why did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, not grant 'Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum permission to pray in his house, despite the dangers he faced on his way to the mosque and the absence of a guide for him?

The opinions regarding the hadith of Ibn Umm Maktum concerning congregational prayer can be summarized into three main views: those who say it was abrogated by theith of Itban ibn Malik, those who interpret it as Ibn Umm Maktum seeking the reward of congregational prayer in his home, not a dispensation to abandon it, and those who say the command to attend is for recommendation. However, the most preponderant view is the obligation of congregational prayer for whoever hears the call, even if he is blind or lives far away, unless a certain harm is realized. The view of abrogation is weak due to the differences between the situations of the two Companions, and because a dispensation is not for abandoning a virtue, but rather an obligation.
