Does a triple, irrevocable divorce (baynunah kubra) occur by the husband's saying: "You are divorced, divorced, divorced" after his saying "You are divorced," thereby forfeiting his right to return to his wife unless she marries another man? And is she obligated to observe the waiting period ('iddah) and receive the dowry (mahr), despite the marriage not having been consummated?

If a man has a proper khalwa (private seclusion) with his wife, she is considered as if cohabited with (madkhool biha). She is entitled to raj'ah (right of return) and mahr (dower), and iddah (waiting period) becomes obligatory upon her. The first divorce occurred with the husband's statement: "You are divorced." As for his subsequent statement: "You are divorced, divorced, divorced," it counts as a single talaq (divorce) unless the husband intended thereby to effect three divorces.
