Have I committed a sin and will my reward be removed because of the feelings of stinginess that arose within me after giving my family some of my purchases, knowing that I love to help them and always seek forgiveness to get rid of these thoughts?

The questioner is advised to continue helping his parents and relatives, as this is an act of righteousness (birr) and maintaining kinship ties (silat al-rahim), which are among the greatest causes for entering Paradise after the Oneness of Allah. He should not pay attention to inner whispers (hadith al-nafs), due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned my Ummah for whatever thoughts cross their minds, as long as they do not act upon them or speak them." He must also strive to overcome the covetousness of his soul, as Allah Almighty says: {And whoever is protected from the covetousness of his soul - then it is those who are the successful} (Quran 59:9). The covetousness for which a servant is held accountable is that which leads him to abandon an obligation or acquire something forbidden.
