What should a wife do if she intensely dislikes her husband and prefers death over staying with him, because she feels he treats her with malice and cunning, and what are her rights if she seeks a divorce?

It is permissible for a woman to request a divorce in cases of intense aversion to her husband and the impossibility of reconciliation. In such a case, she is entitled to her Mahr (dower) if the husband agrees without requiring a ransom (fidyah), and she is also entitled to housing and maintenance during the revocable waiting period ('iddah raj'iyyah). However, if the husband refuses unless a ransom is paid, then she must pay him what she uses to redeem herself. Ibn Qudamah mentioned that it is permissible for a woman to seek a khul' (divorce by mutual agreement with compensation) by offering compensation if she dislikes her husband due to his character, religion, or weakness, and fears that she will not be able to fulfill God's rights concerning him, citing Allah's saying: "But if you fear that they will not uphold the limits of Allah, then there is no blame upon them for what she gives to free herself."
