How can one deal with a husband who is constantly suspicious, insults his wife and her family, refuses to go to a family counselor, and prefers divorce over reconciliation, knowing that the wife desires reconciliation? Is there any advice?

A woman is not permitted to go out to work except with her husband's permission, unless there is a legitimate necessity. If you stipulated to your husband before the marriage contract that you would remain in your workplace and he agreed, then he must fulfill that. Both spouses must treat each other well and have good assumptions about one another, for ill-suspicion is a great sin, especially between spouses. A husband acts wrongly if he accuses his wife or her mother without proof. Among poor marital conduct is for the husband to belittle his wife, compare her to others, or abandon her without a legitimate reason. Affinity (through marriage) is a great relationship that Islamic law encourages nurturing. Efforts should be made to reconcile between spouses, but if that is not possible and cohabitation becomes unbearable, then divorce may be the best option to remove the harm, and Allah may enrich each spouse from His bounty after separation.
