Do clothes defiled by impurity become pure when placed in an automatic washing machine, according to the schools of thought that stipulate a specific number of washes for impurity, given that the liquid washes the impurity seven times based on the Hanbali school of thought?

The opinion that washing impurities seven times is a condition for their purification is a weak opinion among the Hanbalis. The prominent scholars of the madhhab have favored the contrary, which is that impurities are purified by dousing them with water until the impurity itself is removed.

Ibn Muflih mentioned three opinions regarding washing impurities in "Al-Mubdi'": 1. Washing seven times: This was chosen by the majority, by analogy with the impurity of a dog. 2. Washing three times, purifying: This was chosen by some jurists, by analogy with washing the hands after sleep and using stones for purification (istijmar). 3. Dousing with water without a specific number: This was chosen by Ibn Qudamah in "Al-Mughni," and it is what Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah favored. This is based on the removal of the impurity itself without specifying a number, and they cited hadiths that support this.

The Mufti believes it is permissible to adopt the view of the majority who hold that it is sufficient to douse the impurity with water to purify it for someone who is a follower (muqallidah). However, if she chooses to follow the Hanbali madhhab, then the impure clothes must be washed seven times, wringing them out each time. The method of purification according to this madhhab is: seven washes with purifying water, along with rubbing, pressing, and wringing each time until the impurity itself is removed.
