What should a married man with children do, who committed sodomy with a young man by mutual consent, then repented and resolved not to return to it, but was surprised a month later by blackmail from the one on whom the act was performed, demanding money or threatening to report him to the police?

Sodomy is one of the grave sins and immoralities. Its perpetrator must hasten to repent by ceasing the act, feeling remorse, and resolving never to return to it. He must conceal his sin and increase good deeds, and avoid the causes of disobedience. He must not succumb to the blackmailer's threat nor pay him money unless it is absolutely necessary to avert harm. If he adheres to piety and trusts in Allah, He will not forsake him.
