What is repentance, and how can a person who prays sometimes and stops at other times maintain regular prayer?

Procrastination in performing prayers is a serious matter, and it is more than just words; it pertains to the reality of what lies beyond existence, and to Paradise and Hell. Do not await a magical moment to change; rather, promptly perform the present prayer immediately and seek Allah's help. Be diligent in performing the prayer at the beginning of its prescribed time, and remember Allah's blessings upon you. Consider your state after death in the grave to realize the importance of prayer. Accompany the righteous who supplicate to their Lord and remember Him, and do not obey one whose heart Allah has made heedless of His remembrance and who follows his own desires, for accompanying the righteous aids in obedience to Allah and leads to the rectification and uprightness of affairs.
