Is repentance for prayers that were delayed due to sleep or extreme fatigue sufficient, or must they all be made up?
Prayer is a great pillar of Islam, and abandoning it is a grave sin that warrants severe warning. It is not permissible to delay prayer beyond its prescribed time due to sleep or fatigue. Whoever has missed prayers for such a reason must repent to Allah and make up all the missed prayers. If she does not know their exact number, she should make them up until she is reasonably sure that she has fulfilled her obligation, which is the view of the majority of scholars. Some jurists, however, are of the opinion that one who abandons prayer out of laziness does not have to make it up, but rather should perform many supererogatory prayers and repent to Allah.
