Is repentance from prayers omitted intentionally or intermittently due to laziness obligatory, or is it sufficient to make them up while performing many supererogatory prayers? Does this include those who prayed and then stopped, or only those who never prayed at all and then repented? And how are missed prayers to be made up if they are obligatory?

"One who abandons or neglects prayer is in grave danger, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'The head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is prayer.' One must repent from past negligence in prayer. The preponderant opinion, in our view, is that one who abandons prayer due to laziness does not exit the fold of Islam by doing so.

You must make up for the prayers you intentionally missed, to the best of your ability, in a way that does not harm your body or your livelihood. If you do not know their number, then make up what you most likely missed. It is recommended for one who is making up a number of missed prayers to call the Adhan for the first prayer and the Iqamah for the remaining prayers. As for praying two days' worth of prayers in one day, this does not absolve the one who missed them, and this is a weak opinion."
