Is it obligatory to make up missed prayers after repentance, or is it sufficient to observe the Sunnah and supererogatory prayers?

If you do not know their number, then strive to estimate them and make up what you believe, with a high probability, will clear your conscience, and in a way that does not cause you daily hardship. Some jurists have held that a person who misses prayers out of laziness is not enjoined to make them up; rather, they should increase in supererogatory prayers and repent to Allah.
