What is the ruling of Islamic law on removing the hijab, applying makeup, and styling hair among women only at weddings?

The basic principle is that a woman should not leave her home except for a necessary need, as Allah Almighty says: "And abide in your houses." (Quran 33:33). If she does leave, she must not display her adornment or wear perfume if she passes by men, as Allah Almighty says: "and do not display yourselves" (Quran 33:33), and as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Any woman who perfumes herself and passes by a gathering of people so that they may smell her fragrance is an adulteress." It is also necessary to ensure that the gathering is free from forbidden acts such as photography and music; refer to fatwa number 33731 for this.
