Does the Hadith "There is no envy except in two: a man whom Allah has given the Qur'an and he recites it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day..." mean that mentioning one's son's memorization of the Qur'an does not invite envy, and therefore it is permissible to boast about it in front of people?

The meaning of envy (hasad) in the Hadith is "ghibtah," which is the desire for a blessing similar to what another person possesses, without wishing for that blessing to be removed from them. The term "hasad" was used for "ghibtah" metaphorically. The intention is that there is no beloved and superior form of "ghibtah" than desiring something similar to what is mentioned in the Hadith, such as reciting the Quran and spending wealth in the way of Allah. It does not refer to the forbidden envy, which is wishing for the removal of a blessing.
